Newcomer (ex-pat, knowledge or labour migrant, or status holder)
Children between 12 and 18 years old who are not able to speak Dutch will be placed in an international bridge class (Internationale Schakelklas, or ISK). The ISK provides full-time education and its main task is to transfer the pupils to regular Dutch-speaking classes.
In Amstelveen, we have Panta Rhei (https://www.sgpantarhei.nl/internationale_schakelklas/) for children between 12 and 16 years old, and Nova College (Internationale Schakelklas (ISK) (novacollege.nl)) for 16 years and up.
